1. What is a Tamalpais Bank Visa Check Card?
A Tamalpais Bank check card is a convenient banking service that allows you to access your funds without the hassle of writing a check or carrying cash. The amount of your purchase is withdrawn directly from your checking account. Detailed transaction information is listed on your monthly statement.
2. How is the Tamalpais Bank Visa Check Card different from a credit card?
The check card is not a credit card. With Tamalpais Bank Visa check card, you access funds directly from your checking account so you can use the card without worrying about paying interest or a monthly bill. When you make a purchase, the amount is automatically deducted from your checking account balance.
3. Where can I use my Tamalpais Bank Visa Check Card?
The Tamalpais Bank Visa check card can be used for purchases at millions of locations that accept Visa Debit Cards worldwide. You may also use the check card for ATM transactions at any Tamalpais Bank ATMs and at more than 600,000 non-Tamalpais Bank ATMs worldwide.† Surcharge-free ATM transactions can be made at over 11,000 MoneyPass ATMs in the U.S.
4. How do I know which ATMs will accept my Tamalpais Bank Visa Check Card?
You may use your Tamalpais Bank Visa check card at any ATM displaying the PLUS or Visa® logos.
5. How do I make purchases with my new Tamalpais Bank Visa Check Card?
Simply present your card to the cashier, or select the "credit" option when prompted, and sign your receipt. Some merchants may ask you to enter your PIN. If you prefer, you may indicate to the cashier that you would like to complete your purchase as a credit transaction. Either method is fine but selecting "credit" gives you all your check card benefits, plus Visa's Zero Liability*, and you can avoid extra usage fees that some transactions might otherwise require. And if you use your Tamalpais Bank Visa check card to place a phone or Internet order, simply provide your card number and expiration date. All purchases, regardless of the method by which they are completed, will be deducted right from your Tamalpais Bank checking account.
6. What happens when I need to select "credit" or "debit" on a keypad?
Either method is fine but selecting "credit" gives you Visa's Zero Liability. You will likely be asked to sign the receipt and you're on your way.
7. Can I have more than one Tamalpais Bank Visa Check Card?
Yes. You can have one Check card for each person listed on your checking account signature card. If you have two or more checking accounts, you may have Tamalpais Bank Visa check cards for each account.
8. Is there a daily limit on PIN and/or signature purchases with the Tamalpais Bank Visa Check Card?
Yes. You can purchase merchandise and services up to $3,000 daily at any business that accepts the Visa check card.
9. Is there a daily limit on ATM cash withdrawals using the Tamalpais Bank Visa Check Card?
Your daily cash withdrawal limit with your ATM or Tamalpais Bank Visa check card is $500. Of course, you should not exceed your checking account balance.
10. What is the cost for a Tamalpais Bank Visa Check Card?
The Tamalpais Bank Visa check card is Free with any personal checking account.
11. Is there a finance charge for using a Tamalpais Bank Visa Check Card?
There is no finance charge for using the Tamalpais Bank Visa check card, since purchases are deducted directly from your Tamalpais Bank checking account.
12. Can I use my Tamalpais Bank Visa Check Card overseas?
Yes, you can use your Tamalpais Bank Visa check card to make purchases at millions of locations all over the world. You can also withdraw money at nearly one million Visa/Plus ATMs.
13. What should I do to stay safe while using ATMs?
For your protection and to ensure that you are the only one with access to your account, please observe these safety tips when using an ATM:
- Do not use an ATM if you are uncomfortable with the surroundings. If suspicious-looking individuals are loitering about, wait until the premise is clear or use another ATM.
- Avoid using ATMs alone. Have someone accompany you, especially at night.
- At night, choose an ATM that is well-lit.
- Park as close as possible to the ATM.
- When using a drive-up ATM, be sure that all doors are locked and all passenger windows are closed.
- Have your card out and be ready when you approach the ATM. Complete any forms beforehand.
- Be aware of the surrounding areas. Don't hesitate to cancel the transaction and leave if anything seems suspicious.
- Don't display cash near the ATM. Count it later. Contact us if there is a discrepancy.
- Use ATMs only where you feel safe.
- Memorize your ATM Secret Code. Never write your Secret Code on your card or keep it in your wallet or purse.
- Do not give information about your account or your Secret Code to strangers.
- Stand directly in front of the ATM so no one else can see the Secret Code you enter.
- Keep your ATM receipt. Personal account information may be printed on it.
- Inspect your monthly statement, and report any unusual or unauthorized transactions.
