Designed to be Green
An employee committee first recommended seeking green certification as part of an overall effort to save energy and water and as a means to reflect our corporate values to our customers. Our commitment to the values of Marin County has always been among our core principles. In this case, our employees identified the designation as a Green Business as another important demonstration of our community involvement.
In order to be named a Green Business, the Bank was required to meet certain standards as set forth by the County of Marin in conjunction with the Bay Area Green Business Program. Highlights include:
- Free online banking so you can bank anytime, anywhere and transact electronically to speed processing and save paper.
- Standard practice of two-sided copying
- Scanners for electronic files to save paper
- Purchasing of reusable rather than disposable items
- Purchasing of bulk and recyclable products
- Recycled paper, recycling of beverage containers, cardboard, plastics and glass
- Equipment with energy saving features; use of hardware programs that save energy with auto turn-off functions
- LED ‘exit’ signs; occupancy sensors; photocells
- Installation of A/C economizers to increase air circulation
- Mulch on all non-turf areas; water efficient shrubs or ground cover in place of turf.
- Cleaning products that are safer to occupants and the environment.
- Non-toxic, low VOC products
- Promotional materials printed with soy or other low VOC inks, paper is 50% post consumer waste.
- Telecommuting opportunities to conserve fuel and reduce emissions.
